As part of our #WeLoveWhatWeDo series, we caught up with Deputy Manager, Tilly, who recently joined in 2022, to learn more about her role…

“My three words to describe Returned to Glory (RTG) are inspiring > rejuvenating > uplifting!  I've always wanted to find a job doing this kind of role so when a friend told me of vacancies I applied straight away! No hesitation!

I live in Berkhamsted and previously worked at number twenty. It was named ITZOMI before it was a hospice-run shop.

I came back into the sector of retail after a ten-year stint, from raising my daughter who is now nine years old. I knew of RTG for a long time but moved out of the area, so it wasn’t an option to apply to work there but I always coveted a role there. I’m now chuffed to be part of the team!”

Tilly is training for a diploma in upholstery. She’s half way through the three-year course. She shares, “I absolutely love interiors, furniture upcycling, and textiles. Anything crafty and cooking related!  I love to reuse, reimagine and recycle anything and everything and passionate about the environment/nature.

In my role, I support Manager Naomi and the rest of the team wherever I can. The volunteers are indispensable so making sure they are all happy is of utmost importance. We really value their support. I clean, polish, fix and merchandise everything that may need some ‘TLC’ in order for it to be sold on the shop floor in tiptop condition. In short, there is nothing that I will not do!

I love the difference it makes when an area is refreshed and remerchandised. There is a real buzz when things from that area then sell and make profit for the Hospice, making a positive difference within the local community and helping so many families in need.

I love meeting people and making every customer's experience the best it can be and go above and beyond to do so. My most favourite memory was recently, when asked to run an upholstery workshop for the showroom! What an honour!

“In summary, I love my new job and the re-location back to the area. I am really enjoying working with the lovely team here who have all helped me settle in amazingly.”
