Being part of the Hospice in general is amazing:

“Being part of the Hospice in general is amazing: being here every day and working with such great people. Every day is different so pinpointing one particular thing is hard but I do love the way everyone is driven. We have a job to do and we smile and laugh while we are doing it.”

Meet Bridget from Hemel.  We welcomed her to the Hospice at the end of August.  Describing herself as the fun bubbly person and joker in the office, Bridget loves to spread laughter and cheer!

She is our Cashier and Business Administrator, and can be found working in our Finance & Facilities office. In addition to her love for football, she enjoys walking her 3-year-old border collie, Buddy, and watching WWE wrestling. “I was a big fan of Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks when I was younger and a regular at the Pavilion in Hemel when they were in town!” She shares!  She is also the Club secretary for Hemel Athletic Youth FC and loves being part of her son’s football journey.

Bridget came across the Hospice role being advertised on ‘Indeed’ and describes it being a ‘blessing’.

The Hospice is humbling, driven, and beautiful.” She explains fondly. “In my role, I log the donations that come in from the public and donors, and make sure that our wonderful volunteers have everything they need to carry out their job.  I support my team when needed and deal with the day-to-day running i.e. emails, post, invoices, processes etc.

I recently have been accepted for the FTSU (Freedom to Stand Up) Ambassador role, which I am really looking forward to.  I was also appointed in jest as the Positivity Ambassador by our CEO in a weekly Link Up recently! I find that making people feel good about themselves makes the working day enjoyable!”

Explaining about which Hospice events she has been part of, Bridget continues,

“I attended the Light up a Life event in December with my son Jack who is 12. This for us was such a humbling, beautiful event - missing the ones that we love at Christmas and remembering them with a smile in our hearts. The lights and carol singers were beautiful”.

We asked Bridget what her favourite meal was on the menu… “I must admit most days I have salad as I am trying to be good! However,… my favourite meal by far was our Christmas Dinner, Turkey, roasties, veg and those beautiful puddings! Wow - utterly delicious!”
