In memory of Mark Simmonds

I donated the glove, gifted by Bob Wilson, in memory of Mark, I hope it will bring some more good to the Hospice in the way of funds

In 2015, we cared for Mark who met some of his football heroes at the Hospice in the final weeks of his life.

Recently, his wife Liz donated the glove that former Arsenal goalie Bob Wilson gave to Mark at the Hospice. It was signed by Wilson, Pat Jennings and David Seaman. The glove raised a wonderful £250 for our hospice care in an auction at our recent Sapphire ball.

Liz said, “Mark was terrified of coming to a hospice, but as soon as he entered an amazing calmness came over him. It gave him his character back. The day the Hospice arranged for Bob Wilson to visit gave Mark a real buzz; the expression came back to his face.”

“I donated the glove, gifted by Bob Wilson, in memory of Mark. I hope it will bring some more good to the Hospice in the way of funds,” Liz said.

We’re happy to say that it will! The Sapphire Ball raised a fantastic £34,000 for our Hospice care – a wonderful result!
