The Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted has announced a new Chair of Trustees, Mike Tye, effective from December.
Outgoing Chair, Tim Curry, was delighted to confirm the appointment this week, following a thorough recruitment process.
Based locally, Mike Tye joins the Hospice with a wealth of experience in Chair and non-exec Director roles across Consumer, Retail, Hospitality, not-for-profit and Government bodies. Previous commercial roles include highly regarded strategic transformation in his leadership of some of the most well-known national brands.
“The Hospice of St Francis is an outstanding charity that commands the trust and respect of local people. I am very much looking forward to joining the Board of Trustees as the new Chair," shared Mike.
Tim added, "At such a crucial time for the hospice sector nationally, our recruitment process has secured a successor who has my absolute confidence in taking the helm of the Board."
A local charity trusted since 1979, the need for the Hospice’s care is growing faster than ever and the new Chair will play a key role alongside Trustees and the Hospice’s Executive Team in delivering the strategy to meet that demand.
At The Hospice of St Francis even more care, including complex care, can happen at home and in the Hospice Inpatient Unit.
A trustee since 2016, and appointed Chair in 2020, Tim Curry and the wider Board have overseen a period in which Hospice has responded successfully to a 35% increase in referrals, whilst managing a challenging financial environment.
A Hospice is a gift the community gives to itself and The Hospice is St Francis is proud to have been helping local people to live well for over 45 years. That free care relies on local people, with over 80% of the required £6 million annual funding coming from the community.
