Our Volunteering Manager will be responsible for shaping and delivering volunteering objectives of the charity.  With over 1200 volunteers, you will look after our biggest workforce, supported by the People Services Team.

The Volunteering Manager will work proactively with teams across the Hospice  to deliver our people strategy. Ensuring the inclusion, engagement, diversity, impact and value of volunteers is recognised and celebrated throughout the charity.

You will support the Head of People and Culture in creating an effective People Services operation, working within the people team to deliver collaborative, effective and timely processes.

Leading our programme and priorities for volunteers week annually and supporting Hospice wide events, an advocate for volunteering, our Volunteering Manager is the volunteer voice and ensures volunteering remains integral to our brand.

You will line manage the People Team Administrators and Volunteers of the People Services team, providing advice, support and guidance on all aspects of volunteering.

The successful applicant will work across the Hospice to ensure there is a high level of knowledge and understanding about the value and benefit of inclusive volunteering. Guiding our managers and team members in best practice and volunteering innovation.

To provide advice and communicate your expertise to ensure that staff and team leaders work to charity policy, procedure and associated standards for volunteering, from start to end of volunteering cycle.

You will lead and support our Hospice Trustees, Ambassadors and Association Members including recruitment and induction processes. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and good practice, working with key stakeholders such as the Association of Volunteer Managers, CQC, and other organisations supporting volunteers and volunteering.

• Educated to degree level or experience that demonstrates equivalent ability​
• Experience of using databases and producing timely accurate reports​
• Minimum of 3 years managing others (staff or volunteers)​
• A sound understanding of the principles of good volunteer practice and processes​
• An understanding of charities and the hospice sector (desirable)​
• Current knowledge of social media applications in volunteering​
• Excellent knowledge on the use of Microsoft Office, Teams and Zoom​
• Proven ability in interpreting and analysing data ​
• A passion for People including volunteering and the volunteer experience.​
• Able to build and maintain effective professional relationships and collaborate effectively​
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time and delegate effectively and escalate issues promptly to protect the organisation, its employees and volunteers

• Previous experience working in the charity sector ​

• 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday​

• The post-holder will come into contact with emotional circumstances, through speaking to staff, volunteers and patients and or information. The post holder will frequently be required to change from one activity to another to meet the changing needs of the service​
• You will be expected to comply with Health and Safety, Fire and Infection Control regulations and Hospice policies. You will need to complete all mandatory training.​
